In the Graphics unit of Digital Media, the software we used was Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Through the use of Photoshop we were taught how to edit photos by adding color to black and white images, creating advertisements, photoshopping items into a certain image, etc. In Adobe Illustrator, we were taught how to make logos and polygonal images. The Graphics unit was by far my favorite unit because it really focused on tasks I enjoy doing, but because this was my very first unit in this type of class I got confused a lot. I wasn't very familiar with a computer, or Photoshop/ Illustrator, so it was very challenging for me, and it took me a while to understand how to use the software. Each project shown above took me a very long time to complete, and now looking back on them, I believe I could've done better. Out of these projects I really enjoyed the Andy Warhol project because it was the easiest for me, and I think the outcome was pretty good.
Through the Graphics unit I was able to obtain skills that we didn't even learn in class. I used Photoshop in other ways such as drawing which we never learned in class, but I was able to do it because of this class. Without learning about this unit I never would have gotten familiar with Photoshop, and I know I'd never have the patience to do so at home. From this unit I am most proud of my personal projects, because they are what I am personally interested in. I did enjoy most of the projects we did in class, but the drawings I did kept me intrigued to the point where I worked on them for multiple class periods straight. Below are two drawing that I did. The one on the left was me experimenting with drawing in Photoshop which is why it isn't my best. On the right is the drawing that I used for the Digital Media Showcase, and this is by far the project I am most proud of.
